BARAHONA (Zone South)
Barahona it is the tourist destination with more biodiversity of the whole Dominican Republic. Barahona is placed in the Peninsula of pedernales, a great peninsula to the south of the country with many kilometers of coasts bathed by the Caribbean sea and with three national parks. Nowadays the tourists who visit this zone are in the habit of being Dominicans and foreign tourists that they are charmed with the wild nature.
Barahona's zone possesses the biggest lake of the whole Caribbean, lake Enriquillo, the lowest point of the whole Caribbean, approximately 40 meters under the level of the sea, which it provokes that it is a very warm area and with totally uninhabited desert. It is not necessary to forget the tourist so called phenomenon “Barahona’s Magnetic Pole” and the existence of wild crocodiles.
Barahona is the ideal destination to get lost for the steep littoral, virgins bath in his coves with crystalline water, and to explore the desert landscape that prevails in the Peninsula of Flints but very richly in fauna.
